Nat Ivamy is back on court with the Hoiho

The Southern Hoiho are delighted to announce the signing of Dunedin local Natalie Ivamy for the 2023 Tauihi League Season.

As a former member of Southern Hoiho’s predecessor the Otago Gold Rush, Ivamy is well known to the community of Dunedin.

A professional physio and mother of two off the court, Ivamy is returning to basketball this season after sitting out of basketball the past few years to have her two daughters.

After the short hiatus, Ivamy is ready to get back into professional basketball this season.

Talking about her decision to sign with the Southern Hoiho, Ivamy said that everything fell into place.

“I had my first daughter in 2021, and my second daughter is eight months old now,” she said.

“I kind of just rocked up to get a bit of fitness and have a bit of me time but the environment that I've come back in to has just been awesome.”

Ivamy said that reconnecting with former Otago Gold Rush coach and current Southern Hoiho coach Todd Marshall is something she has enjoyed about coming back.

“He's just awesome to play for,” she said.

“He creates a really good vibe, which is nice, and he is super motivating.”

On her time back in basketball so far, Ivamy is appreciating being back in a team environment.

“I think just being amongst the basketball scene again, and amongst the environment that has been created,” she said.

“Todd coming in has brought the local family vibes to the team.”

“I can have a tough day and then go into training and always come out in a good mood, because everybody just sort of lifts everyone around them.”

The Southern Hoiho’s first game of the season comes against the Tokomanawa Queens on the July 12, get your tickets now.
